EPA Bulletin 1273 - Report and Recommendations This report provides the Environmental Protection Authority's (EPA's) advice and recommendations to the Minister for the Environment on the proposal by Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd (KCGM) to expand their Fimiston operations in Kalgoorlie by widening and deepening the Superpit by means of the Golden Pike Cutback, and to plan for mine closure. The EPA's report, also available at www.epa.wa.gov.au is subject to appeal until close of business 17 December 2007. Appeals will be considered by the Independent Appeals Convenor (9221 8711).

EPA Bulletin 1274 - Report and Recommendations KCGM has applied to the Minister for the Environment for an Approval pursuant to noise regulation 17 to enable it to vary its noise levels from the prescribed standard in the noise regulations, which has been triggered by the Environmental Impact Assessment of the proposed Fimiston Gold Mine Operations Extension (Stage 3) and Mine Closure Planning. In accordance with noise regulation 17, the Minister has referred the application for variation to the EPA for assessment. The EPA's report, also available at www.epa.wa.gov.au is open for comment until close of business 8 January 2008. Comments will be considered by the Independent Appeals Convenor (9221 8711). No Fee Applies.
